Rev up your excitement, for this rare 1972 Demon 340 GSS is a true gem. For years Grand-Spaulding Dodge on 3300 West Grand Avenue in Chicago IL had been offering super-tuned Dodge muscle cars. Mr. Norm Kraus became famous across America promoting their Grand Spaulding Specials in performance car magazines. With insurance premiums squeezing big block performance cars, Mr. Norm adapted by offering special Dodge Demon 340’s. For ‘72 they bolted a low-profile Paxton supercharger that boosted the engine to 360 horsepower creating a 13 second stoplight rocket on stock tires.
In 2022 Mecum Auctions offered this car at their annual May Indianapolis Auction. It is the only known Demon GSS Painted factory TB3 “Petty Blue”. The new for ‘72 twin snorkel hood, black stripes and black bucket interior make for a stunning car. After several bidding rounds, this car hammered “Mecum Sold” at $165,000. Relive the thrilling auction of this classic Mopar on Mecum Auctions’ YouTube channel, where lot F112 rolled onto the red carpet in Indy in 2022.
