HISTORY ASPECTS -
The M10 Motor Carriage (GMC) was the first tank destroyer to be mass-produced by the United States during World II, entering service in 1942. Built on the chassis of the M4 Sherman, it featured a fully rotating open-topped turret armed with a powerful 3-inch (76.2 mm) . The design prioritized mobility and firepower over armor protection, in line with U.S. tank destroyer doctrine that emphasized speed and aggressive anti-armor tactics rather than slugging it out in head-to-head armored duels.
The M10 first saw combat during the North African campaign, where it provided much-needed firepower against German tanks, especially the Panzer III and IV. It later played a vital role in the Italian Campaign and during the Normandy landings and subsequent breakout into France. Though its could struggle against the front armor of late- German tanks like the Panther and Tiger, the M10's mobility and its ability to hit from the flanks made it an effective tool in the hands of skilled crews.
The M10 also served with Allied forces through Lend-Lease, notably with British and Free French units. In the Pacific, its use was limited due to the nature of the fighting and the lack of heavy Japanese armor. By the end of the , it was gradually replaced by the more powerful M36 Jackson and M18 Hellcat, but the M10 remained in service with various nations into the post years due to its reliability and versatility.
This 1 - 35 scale model brings to life the rugged, battle-proven silhouette of one of WWII's most iconic tank killers. With accurate detailing, including the open turret, elevation, and combat stowage, it’s a must-have for collectors and history enthusiasts looking to showcase a key player in the Allied armored spearhead.
