Chinese Qing Dynasty Antique Jewelry Box LID ONLY - Large Mutton Fat Jade & Copper. The jade measures approximately 4 3/4 x 3 x 6/8 inches. The crack in the jade is natural, not deep, and already existed when the design was carved into the jade. The flowers are cut, taking into account the crack, and are seamlessly integrated into the overall design. The professional collectors I consulted with stated that this is old jade that was used when the box was created. The box itself dates back to 1800s, but the jade is older than the box. The box is marked 'Made in Germany' with an anchor, indicating that it was imported to Germany from China, and the distributor put their mark on it. The jade is distinctly Chinese, showcasing a traditional carving style featuring flowers and leaves. Around the jade the box is decorated with turquoise beads, three of which are missing.
