This rare antique set from Royal Staffordshire by Clarice Cliff in the Tonquin pattern includes a gravy boat with an attached underplate and an 8" bread/salad plate in a plum/mulberry color, crafted from ceramic in Staffordshire, United Kingdom. It is an antique piece from the 1930s, showcasing limited edition decorative features. The model is the Royal Staffordshire Clarice Cliff Tonquin, reflecting the rich pottery production technique of the time.
I've seen this color called both Mulberry, and Plum, and it appears to be the rarest color scheme of this sought after line of antique Dinnerware.
I also noticed that I had a very hard time finding the 8" plates often called bread plates, and sometimes called salad plates. So this size plate truly appears to be a rare find especially in this particular color.
This is a beautiful set of dinnerware items that is a rare and beautiful color to come by. I'll be posting more items in the same set and color very soon.
