Vintage Film Poster “A Place in the Sun” 1951 Elizabeth Taylor, Montgomery Clift

This an original vintage movie insert for the classic tragic drama “A Place in the Sun” that was displayed in movie theater box offices. The film was directed by George Stevens & starring Elizabeth Taylor, Montgomery Clift & Shelley Winters to huge critical & box office acclaim, winning six Academy Awards including Best Director.

This 1951 film poster insert size (14” x 36”) for the Paramount Pictures classic “A Place in the Sun” is in very fine condition. The poster had minor wear & tear with fold & edge wear, creases & scuffs. After purchasing this poster, I paid for linen-backing & restoration to the poster that included cleaning it & filling in color along the lower fold line. As a result, the color in the images is bright & vibrant & this midcentury film poster insert displays magnificently.

“A Place in the Sun” is widely considered one of the best films ever made although it is very much of its period. David Mamet included “A Place in the Sun” in a list of 4 perfect films.
