Macy’s store was the the first to feature a Santa Claus during the Christmas season. In 1864 during the Civil War, the store began installing illuminated window displays to attract the attention of those passing by, giving rise to the notion of ‘window shopping. This started a tradition of legendary Christmas association with Macy's that includes the famous, "LETTER TO SANTA" traditions! I purchased this piece many years ago in a fine arts auction up in New England.

This original artwork dates to the 1950's for an ad campaign much like the Miracle on 34th Street movie theme. It measures about 11" x 13" and is done on very heavy professional artist board. There is also the overlay letter final version of wording and font that made the cut for the actual ad. You will receive both pieces. Again, this is the original rendered one of a kind illustration artwork and a must have for any illustrator art, Christmas, letter to Santa or Macy's collection.
