A lot of five and 10 Chinese Yuan bank notes from between 1936 and 1941. Very crisp notes. Seem AU or UNC, outside of one note having what appears to be ink smeared on it. . Almost a century old!
A great conversation starter, take note of the transition as the years progress on these bank notes and the companies who were making them.
The first note was made in 1936 , firstly w/ - Waterlowe and Son’s Limited, London-….then in it would seem that later that year, -Thomas De La Rue and Company, Limited, London- took on the task, until the 1940s hit and the -American Bank Note company- was passed the torch, until finally arriving at 1942 where it would appear, with things set up, China was returned “control” and the Dah Tung Book Co. took over the printing. Ooops, Dah Tung Book Co. LTD.
Cant forget the “Limited…Given it represents a company whose owners have limited responsibility for the money that it owe… I wonder how that works if your business is in fact printing money.
