Authentic vintage 1974 pictorial map of Liverpool, highlighting Beatles landmarks. It was commissioned by the City of Liverpool's Public Relations Office to promote Beatles tourism after the band's split. The map, designed in the style of the "Yellow Submarine" era, pinpoints significant locations in the lives of John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr. It was issued with the aim of harnessing the power of ‘Beatlemania’ to promote tourism at a time of steep economic decline for the port city, as well as to bemoan the recent breakup of the group. The map was designed in a similar style as the animated film Yellow Submarine (1968) and highlights the former birthplaces, schools, and homes of the Fab Four. An abstract portrait of the band, Penny Lane, Strawberry Fields, and the Yellow Submarine itself are also captured within the image’s iconic aesthetic.
