Vintage, Bavarian, E. Schaller Wiesau, 10.25 inch, Love Story Plate (Rare Black)

E. Schaller Wiesau, vintage, black and gold Love Story Plate. The plate, done in the Rococo style, is signed by the artist and features intricate gold plating accents with many detailed paintings of the courting lovers at the center and around the edges. The center painting is surrounded by a gold ring with embossed dots, followed by a floral gold border. The different, small motifs at the rim are all separated by a line with embossed dots. The wide, rare, black band around the center motif is decorated with floral gold swirls and ornaments is a coat of arms shape.

The porcelain mark on the back of the plate includes an E within crossed swords inside an oval topped with a crown; Bavaria is printed below the oval, all with the number 3 below, and is thought to have been crafted circa. 1950,

Except for one very small chip on the rim in the upper left quadrant, the plate is in great condition and shows little wear. We observed no cracks, repairs, stains, or crazing.
