1951 Inspiring Hymns compiled by AlfredSmith, Scarce Church of the Open Door Ed.

This special 1951 edition of Inspiring Hymns features a rare custom-printed cover from the Church of the Open Door in Los Angeles, founded by evangelical leader R.A. Torrey and housed in the historic BIOLA building. The cover illustration depicts the church’s original downtown structure, known for its iconic “Jesus Saves” rooftop sign — a landmark of 20th-century Christian radio and revivalism. With over 500 gospel hymns and classic selections, this hymnal was made to last through decades of congregational use and spiritual formation.

Overall fair to good condition for its age:

• Cover: marks and wear at edges and corners
• Spine: marks and wear at ends
• Pages: overall good condition with some age marks/brown spots, folded corners and small tears. Most pages are clean
• Edges: brown spot on fore edge, red color faded
