1860 Tom Brown's School Days at Rugby by An Old Boy, Antique Book

This 1860 edition of School Days at Rugby by “An Old Boy” (pseudonym for Thomas Hughes) captures the spirit of English public school life in the mid-19th century. A classic of Victorian fiction, it follows Tom Brown through the challenges, friendships, and moral trials of boarding school at Rugby. This illustrated “Author’s Edition,” with drawings by Larkin G. Mead, Jr., was printed by Ticknor and Fields of Boston and remains one of the earliest American editions of this influential coming-of-age novel.
