J.C. Higgins 311.3140 3" fly reel
Excellent, CLEAN vintage condition!! Absolutely gorgeous.
Taken apart, thoroughly cleaned and lubed.
Drag works perfectly. Reel works like buttah.
Can easily be reversed for LHW or RHW (left or right hand retrieve).
The Higgins 311 is the exact same as the Ocean City 76 reel.
Impossible to know the exact year, but I know it's pre-1966 due to the "alphabet" dial (before 1966, fly line weight was not determined by a number, but by letters). I believe it's pre-1951, as it's pre-"Plymouth" which came out around 1950.
This makes sense, because it looks nearly identical to my 1940's era Ocean City reels.
Basically a poor man's Hardy clone.
I use them exclusively on my 110 year old fly rods, and LOVE them.
