Vintage English Style Silver Plated Entree Dish Covered 11 1/2" x 8 1/2" #729
This is a vintage oval serving bowl with a lid. It's in fairly good condition with the normal scraps and wear for it's age. The lid has a simple, rounded handle that's easily removed. Under the lid, it's numbered "729" and the number "7" in the middle. See the last picture.
On the bottom, there are 3 marks. I apologize for the poor quality, but they were at the limits of my equipment. I'm not an expert at silver marks, but I did some research.
The star represents purity, i.e., it's 92.5% silver or silver plated.
The "MB" is the maker's mark. Unfortunately, the third letter is worn away enough so that it can't be read. Without that, there are too many possibilities.
The "EP" is another indicator that the dish is electroplated, i.e. silver plated. Note that this mark is normally used in English silver.
