ULTRA RARE Original Milton Bradley Words and Sentences Game, 1860s
This is an extremely rare original copy of what I believe to be one of the first games produced by Milton Bradley after he established his board game company in the 1860s. An early precursor to Scrabble.
Original wood box is in excellent condition, as are the complete set of 284 cardboard letter tiles. Box measures approximately 4.5" x 5.5" x 1.5". Cardboard liner in place to hold on cover in perfect shape. Paper label on cover shows minor edge wear (see photos).
Individual tiles are approximately 3/4" square. All are peach colored, except for one letter "V" tile, which is yellow. Am not sure of the purpose of this one tile.
"Pool" printed on label on underside of top cover. I suspect this was intended to be used as a tray from which players could pick tiles from the "pool."
A great piece of toy history.
