Early American Pressed Glass Westmoreland Shell and Jewel from the "Victor" line. Pattern consists of four shells at the bottom of the pitcher. Surrounding the upper rim are button-type jewels surrounded by fan-like shells. This pattern was introduced by Westmoreland in 1893 and was later produced by Fostoria Glass in from 1901-1909. It is considered a scarce pattern. This particular creamer in an iridescent marigold color is rare as the pattern was only produced in a limited amount of colors. In addition, only the creamer and the sugar glass pieces of this line were iridized - all before the iconic Carnival Glass was introduced in 1907 by Fenton Glass. It is believed that this Marigold color of the Shell and Jewel pattern was produced in 1896.
Now that you have had your bite-sized history lesson of this gem of a creamer pitcher, let us get down to the technical details. The creamer is about 5 3/4" tall including the finial, and measures 5" in diameter from the spout to the handle.
