A exquisite delicate old Chinese export cannetille and enamel butterfly brooch. It's marked "800" on the back - 800 parts silver and 200 parts other metals. 800 jewelry was common in the 19th century and early 20th century but was not used in the United States. I have dated this brooch to the 1930s.
The butterfly's wings have very delicate gold tone cannetille wire work on the tips of the wings and different shades of blue enameling inside the wings. It's in nice condition. Some of the blue and green dots are more raised than others
The butterfly's body is made from gold tone wire. The head has two round "eyes" and two antennae terminating in little loops.
The pin has a working locking C-clasp fastener on the back side
