Flora Beal Shelton (b. 1871) was a Kansas farm girl and teacher who, in 1903, accompanied her husband Albert to Tibet, where she spent the next two decades living in a dangerous outpost. Tibet at the time was torn by internal turmoil and war with China, and the Sheltons often faced danger. Flora became a well-known interpreter of Tibet for Western audiences, and she authored numerous books, including this biographical memoir of Albert, who was killed by gunshot in an attack by bandits in 1922. The overall condition is fair to good. The cover has faded some, and there is light corner bumping and fraying on the spine and edges of the boards. Binding is tight and pages clean and unmarked. Smoke-free home. See all photos carefully to judge the condition.
Note: This is a scarce title that usually lists very high. This is a chance to buy at an affordable price.
