1971 Large Union Plaza Las Vegas Stanley J How Firm Demo Drawing Framed MCM NOTE

This is a rare piece of Las Vegas history

In the early 1900s, a railroad was located on the site of the Plaza. The railroad was purchased by Union Pacific in 1921.

In 1971, Union Plaza was designed and constructed by the Upland Industries Corporation. Stanley J. How and Associates played a significant role in its design. The "Union" part of the name honored the Union Pacific railroad. At that time, Union Plaza hotel and casino was the largest of its kind in the world.

In 1992, the name was changed to Jackie Gaughan's Plaza.

The Plaza was renovated and updated in 2010.

Note: This drawing was framed and matted by Monterey Frame Company of Monterey Park, CA in a manner consistent with mid century modern style, however, frame and matting show significant wear.
