Savage Sword of Conan #1 was the first issue of the black-and-white magazine-format comic book series published by Marvel Comics in August 1974. The series was notable for being outside the Comics Code Authority, allowing for more mature storytelling and darker themes.
The magazine starred Conan the Barbarian, the legendary character created by Robert E. Howard, and became one of the most successful comic magazines of its time. The first issue featured art by Boris Vallejo on the cover and included adaptations of Conan stories, such as The Frost Giant’s Daughter.
