Bought in Mexico on my cruise. The man described it to me as a spirit guide(alebrijes) on the pumpkin. The orange petals are cempasúchil, these flowers are used to create paths and decorate altars, or ofrendas, to help guide the spirits of deceased loved ones back home during Dias Day Los Muertos. It's a beautiful piece of art. Has an opening in the back to place a tea light. No cracks. Mexican Talavera is handmade and may have artist imperfections.
