This is an antique Durex fuel filter with glass sediment bowl, manufactured in Dayton, Ohio. Designed for early tractors, stationary engines, and machinery, this inline filter trapped debris and water from the fuel line before it reached the carburetor.
The piece is marked Durex Filter Dayton, Ohio with Patent No. 2,184,598 (1939). It features threaded In and Out connections, a heavy glass dome, and a protective metal cage with screw fastener.
Please note: the internal filter element/screen is missing. The glass bowl and housing remain intact and could be cleaned and restored, or used for display.
