Amazing 1995 miniature hand blown hand crafted Judaica Murano Glass from Soggetti Ebraichi FUSETTI DIEGO Shalom Da Venezia.
So hard to make candy stripe red and sparkly white glass intertwined like an old fashioned barber shop lollipop with a captured in glass double helix style red striated filament. Base is same theme with added white surface polka dots and trim of 24KT gold flecked paint.
Dimensions: 3 7/8” tall, 2” mouth, 1 3/4” base.
Hand painted 24KT gold flecked Star of David mid-goblet.
Dates to 1995 and never used, just carefully stored. Prominent tag of the artist, Fusetti Diego.
Murano glass is famous for being an island in Venice dedicated to making glass by hand since about year 1100. Venice was the archetypical Jewish Ghetto when the Church decided to tolerate Jews only in tiny locked confines in the space of a few people packed city blocks.
The spirit of Jewish resilience against Europe state sanctioned antisemitism resounds in the beauty of Venice. Rare art.
