Vintage Antique Cast Iron Advertising Desk Thermometer “Watkins-Whitney Co.”

This Antique Advertising Desk Thermometer is quite old, probably 100 years old or more. And you know what, it’s reading indoors is close to accurate! However, a piece like this is hardly for use as it is for display or decor. Or, perhaps you collect Thermometers, Barometers, or other scientific weather equipment. A lot of people do. Nevertheless, this makes a great display piece for your desk, especially if you have a few other Victorian Age or turn of the century antiques showcased.

This Antique Desk Thermometer features an octagonal reading dial that is mounted on a base with lovely leaf motif. The entire thing is one piece and made of smoothed cast iron. The dial displays 2 color inks. The temperature gauge is printed at the top in black ink and the words “Watkins-Whitney” and their slogan “Quality Paints Cost Less Per Job” is printed in red ink. A glass lens has kept the face clean and neat for over 100 years. All in all, a great collectible in excellent antique condition.
