Beautiful pair of vintage Japanese Kutani tea cups and saucers with lithophane design inside cup.
Features handpainted gold dragon with gold and black accents.
Stamped Kutani on bottom of saucers. Most likely made to be imported outside Japan.
Inside cups features a lithophane image of a Japanese woman or geisha. Hold cup up to the light to see the image.
Lithophane is a thin layer of translucent porcelain applied in varying thickness to form an image which can be seen when held up to the light.
Cup has a diameter of 3.5 inches and holds approximately 5 fl ounces. Saucer measures 5 inches in diameter.
In very good used condition. Saucer bottoms have some wear and kiln marks. Please see photos as they are part of the description.
