also known as Guanyin or Quan Yin, is a Buddhist goddess of compassion, mercy, and kindness. Her name, Kuan-shi Yin, means "Observing the Sounds (or Cries) of the (human) world". In Sanskrit, her name is Padma-pâni, which translates to "Born of the Lotus. Kuan Yin is the goddess of compassion and manifests whenever there is someone who needs her. Due to her association with compassion, Kuan Yin is often used as a symbol of vegetarianism. It is quite common to see her image in Buddhist vegetarian magazines, pamphlets, and more. Quanyin is also known to appear as a man or woman depending upon the needs of that need the God.

One of the flowers the Goddess is holding appears to have been broken off long ago. See photo. The holes in the ears are original, no jewelry was ever on this figurine.
