This is a vintage Caro Nan hand-painted wooden and woven basket purse. The outside of the purse is 6 1/2 tall by 9" wide and 4 1/2" deep. The front of the purse has a delicate daisy, laying on its side, with Caro Nan's initials on the stem. The top of the purse has a bouquet of daisies in a red ribbon. The bottom is lined with felt. A brass hinged top with red paisley cloth lining to the interior of the purse. What makes this purse for me are the stickers to the inside lid. Elizabeth Weed attended Rockland Community College and a sticker that says "Hooray for Mama." I romanticize that Elizabeth went back to school after her kids were older and they gave her a sticker that she kept with her to remind her why she keeps pursuing her dreams. There are no cracks, chips, stains, or unraveling of the weaving. Smoke free home.
