A rare, antique 1856 French book.
Very pretty & collectible example of 19th century decorative paper binding.
A gilded cartonnage book w a solid binding.
Turquoise blue decorative cover w gold gilt decoration.
The cover shows wear & fading. Some may be cleaned off but I will leave that to its new owner.
Corners show wear w the front upper right corner showing the most.
The center front has a window cutout w a color lithograph print of a captain, his men & flags.
This is the book's crowning glory! The colors are still vibrant & beautiful.
The spine is faded & has a piece missing near the bottom.
There is a water spot that goes throughout the book but fades as it goes. It does not affect the legibility.
