This is a beautifully detailed vintage Chinese bronze seal stamp featuring an elaborately sculpted guardian lion (foo dog) with a cub under its paw and high-relief mythical qilin figures carved into the sides. The craftsmanship is far above average deeply cast, and finely rendered. Appears to be cast bronze based on the patina, tone, and wear, there's a greenish oxidation visible in the recessed areas of the lion’s mouth this is classic bronze disease or verdigris. Material is solid bronze (non-magnetic, extremely heavy for its size 102 grams or 3.6 oz)
Height is approx. 2.5" tall base square seal face with inscription “内府监制” (nèifǔ jiānzhì), traditionally translated as “Supervised by the Imperial Household” a phrase found on Qing dynasty court items. Excellent vintage condition, some shallow wear to the seal face and back (see pic # 10). While the inscription echoes the language of Qing dynasty imperial seals, this piece is most likely a high-quality piece from the 20th-century.
