Very low grade but also very rare and valuable old US coin!
Somebody told me they thought it was a 1795 plain edge coin, but I'm fairly confident you can't tell for sure because of the circulation wear. Feel free to let me know if you have any opinion on that.
Pre 1800s! These were made between 1793 and 1796!
Early days of American history and coinage!
Reverse has nearly all details gone from the circulation wear, but the main outline of Liberty and the cap are visible on the obverse as shown.
I am as confident as I can be that this is genuine. Low enough grade that I don't think it's probably worth sending in for professional authentication, but I don't have any doubts about it personally.
