This set is just plain amazing! Very difficult to find the tumblers that go with this decanter. Deep amber coloring. No chips, cracks, and very clean inside. The tumblers are uneven along the rim--not nick or chip-- just manufacturing flaws.
Based upon a vase design by Erkkitapio Siiroinen called "Noppa", this Italian decanter is actually much more collectible than the vase.
Total Height is 8 1/4". Tumblers are 2 1/2" tall.
The online Glass Encyclopedia states:
"They were originally sold containing wine, bubble bath, or empty as a decorative item. Old advertisements show these being sold in the 1960's for as cheap as 99 cents each. Glass factories that produced these bottles include Vetreria Artistica Sanminiatello (V.A.S.), & Veteria Pesa. They are marked "Made in Italy" in raised lettering on the base, but not always. Mostly machine made using moulds, the quality can often be quite crude, with obvious air bubbles, seams and flaws". VERY COLLECTIBLE VINTAGE SET.
