Rookwood Pottery Ivory Cream Matte Vase with a Blue rim and interior. Encircling the vase are 3, in-relief, leaping gazelles. Toward the base are horizontal rings. Its original mold number, 6053, was created by William Ernst Hentschel. The Finisher's Dot is that of Ewan. RP date 1928. 8”H x 6.50”W x 6.50”D. Wt= 2.45 lbs. Mint. ABOUT THE COMPANY: Opening its doors in 1880, Cincinnati’s Rookwood Pottery quickly attracted international fame, and today, continues to be the most celebrated and collected American pottery. By the time Rookwood began its merger with Tiffany & Company in 1967, it was too late. Rookwood Pottery could not recover from its Great Depression losses, and closed its kilns the same year.
