Antique JW McCoy Standard Glaze Wild Rose Double Handled Vase Number Two

I have always admired McCoy for being one of the great dramatic stories of American Art pottery. The LOY NEL ART line started in 1905 as a sweeping recovery effort from a devastating fire that burned through the pottery in 1903. Named after his three sons, Lloyd, Nelson, and Arthur, McCoy pushed himself back in the competition with these beautiful standard glaze, hand painted forms. This piece is clearly marked 02, which is listed in the Sanford Guide and original marketing materials as being 12 inches tall. My tape measure says 12.75 inches tall and 5.25 inches across the rim. She weighs 6.04 lbs. There are numerous glaze imperfections and flakes to the base and rim. There is a quarter inch flake to one handle and various small glaze pops and scratches. There are no cracks, incisions, or repairs. I have made every effort to provide detailed, well lit photos fir your consideration. This unusual piece of American history has a distinctive green over brown glaze, and maybe a little dust.
