Here is an original watercolor painting by Cortland (W Cortland ) Butterfield, a New Jersey & Pennsylvania artist (1904 - 1977)
This Butterfield watercolor features a sad clown wearing a red & white striped shirt with a yellow jacket over top, red clown hair and a red hat with a red detail & flower hanging off of its side
The clown appears to have a sullen face, or maybe one in just a deep thought
The piece is matted in white and then with a yellow on the most outer border
The painting itself measures approx. 10" x 13" and the entire piece measures about 20" x 16"
The bottom features two signatures - on on the lower left hand side which appears to be "C Butterfield" and one on the right bottom that reads "Butterfield"
Lovely watercolor! The matt shows wear with some spots, marks and discoloration. No frame. Some tape along the edges. Please view all pictures & please message with questions. Thank you!
