Handmade necklace with blue and purple speckles swirled in teal transparent glass, part of Fenton Glass Jewelry's "Nightshade" collection. Necklace chain and bead caps are sterling silver, chain is 25" thin snake chain with spring ring clasp, a type I find a little hard to open. Long chain length means it hangs below the sternum, around underarm height, which can keep the pendant from getting hidden under a collar. Made in the USA prior to closure of Fenton Glass Jewelry Philadelphia manufacturing location.
The glass features a beautiful twisting pattern thanks to the application of colorful crushed glass to the teal base that is then raked with a tool while rotating to create the swirl. The colorway is muted and mature with the larger pieces of silver adding beauty and sparkle, and the shape evokes the namesake eggplant.
