The Grandstream GXP1628 is a desktop IP phone that gives small and medium offices a straightforward way to take advantage of Gigabit Ethernet speeds, Power over Ethernet, and clear HD audio without adding extra hardware. It arrives ready for two independent SIP accounts, so a user can manage personal and shared lines from the same handset.

A 132 x 48 backlit LCD screen presents caller information and menu options in a clean, readable format. Three XML programmable soft keys let administrators map common tasks such as voicemail access or call park to on-screen buttons, while eight dual-color BLF or speed-dial keys show real-time line status for colleagues or frequently dialed numbers. Receptionists, sales teams, and customer service desks will appreciate the ability to see who is available and transfer calls with a single touch.

The dual Gigabit ports keep network traffic moving quickly, and integrated PoE means the phone can draw power directly from a PoE switch or injector, eliminating the need for a separate power adapter and reducing cable clutter. Electronic hook switch support for Plantronics headsets allows hands-free operation that is ideal for long calls or multitasking.

For IT staff, the GXP1628 offers automated provisioning options, making mass deployment across multiple desks simple. It works seamlessly with Grandstream UCM series IP PBXs and is compatible with most open-standard SIP platforms, which helps protect existing infrastructure investments and eases future expansion.

Security remains a priority. Support for SRTP and TLS encryption safeguards both voice and signaling traffic, giving organizations confidence when handling sensitive conversations. Up to 1,000 contacts can be stored locally, and a call history of 200 records helps users track recent activity without turning to another device.

Highlights:
  • Two SIP accounts and two line keys for flexible call handling
  • HD audio available on both the handset and built-in speakerphone
  • Dual Gigabit Ethernet ports with integrated PoE for fast network connectivity and simplified cabling
  • Eight dual-color BLF or speed-dial keys for quick access to colleagues or frequently dialed numbers
  • Electronic hook switch support for Plantronics headsets, enabling easy hands-free use
  • Three XML programmable soft keys that can be customized to match workflow requirements
  • Local phonebook for up to 1,000 contacts and a 200-entry call history
