The Tripp Lite N286-10G-TC is an SFP+ transceiver that lets you run 10 Gigabit Ethernet over familiar Cat6a copper cabling on Cisco switches, routers, and servers. By turning an open SFP+ slot into a standard RJ45 connection, it makes short in-rack or inter-rack links up to 98 feet easy to deploy without the cost or fragility of fiber.

Installation is straightforward. The module is hot swappable, so you can slide it into place while the equipment is live and avoid planned downtime. The RJ45 interface automatically senses 1, 2.5, 5, or 10 Gbps, negotiates the correct speed, and handles MDI or MDI-X crossover on its own. If you are replacing a Cisco SFP-10G-T-X, this unit slips in as a functional equivalent that follows MSA guidelines, so the switch sees it immediately and reports the expected part number.

For sites where electromagnetic interference is a concern, the housing is made of zinc to provide a solid shield. This contributes to stable signal integrity in dense racks, network closets, or lab environments where multiple high-speed links sit side by side. Whether you are expanding a top-of-rack switch, adding a test bench loop, or upgrading an existing copper run in the office, the N286-10G-TC offers a dependable way to keep bandwidth high and installation effort low.

Highlights:
  • Supports up to 10 Gbps over Cat6a at distances to 98 ft (30 m)
  • Functions as a direct replacement for the Cisco SFP-10G-T-X module
  • Hot swappable, allowing installation without taking equipment offline
  • Auto-negotiates 1, 2.5, 5, or 10 Gbps and handles MDI/MDI-X crossover
  • RJ45 interface lets you use existing copper patch cables
  • Zinc housing shields against electromagnetic interference for reliable performance
