This is made out of wood, hand painted.
**I just want to make you aware that one of the riders hat touches the carousel bar when it is turned in, the riders twirl from side to side and I noticed one is to close to the poles and it gets stuck. ***
I have the original purchase bag as well. No box just the styrofoam packaging as pictured. A delicate piece but very nice.
